Mike Hewson was born and raised in North Vancouver. He moved to Vernon in 2004, and is the owner of a security alarm company, Hewberry Alarms LTD. Mike’s father was an Air Canada pilot (retired) so he grew up with a good knowledge of aviation. But it wasn’t until 2019 that he began his own flight training. After just three months in flight school, he passed all the requirements for his private pilots license. All his training was in Vernon with Aurora Aviation Academy.

Shortly thereafter, Mike bought into a partnership on a 172 and began building flight time quickly. Eventually, the partnership purchased a second aircraft, a Cessna 182. Flying really took over and Mike was soon the proud owner of his own Vans RV9A to enjoy and chalk up his hours.  

Mike joined the Vernon Flying Club at the beginning of his flight training, stating it was to get the most from flying, and opportunities for learning experience.
