BLIND TIGER Pizza Party

The Pizza Party at the Blind Tiger Winery on Wednesday, September 27, was a resounding success! It was attended and enjoyed by 24 members, most from Vernon but a few from the Kelowna Flying Club.
Our hosts were Charlene and Jerry Wowchuk, owners of the winery and KFC members with Charlene being the pilot in the family. They welcomed us warmly and promptly served each a glass of wine, allowing us to taste the different varieties before choosing……and it was generously-sized Riedel stemware!

Our group gathered under a bright, well-lit tent with large windows and well-spaced tables and chairs. We were assured the pizza would continue to arrive as long as we were still enjoying it, and enjoy it we did! There were four kinds presented, all of which were tasty and delicious.

The winery is a beautiful property complete with gardens to grow the fresh produce used on their pizzas. The name comes from the prohibition era when a ‘blind tiger’ was a place where liquor was sold illegally. Some sort of animal display would be exhibited to disguise these establishments and, in this case, the tiger at the gate is blindfolded. The winery and restaurant are family friendly and pet friendly with non-alcoholic beverages available and a special menu just for furry friends! The tasting room is seasonal and hours change mid-October but through the summer there are “Live in the Vineyard” performances.

It was a very pleasant evening with great food and wine, and I’m sure we’ll be returning another day!
